The Doctor Is In

Dr Martens are one of the most nostalgia-inducing items of clothing for me. I remember getting my first pair, three-hole cherries, when I was 13 and it being one of the most exciting days of my young life. However, some of that excitement soon turned to fear, with accounts of kids being "rolled" by skins, getting swarmed by UTs (it's a Toronto thing) ... a lot of grief for a pair of shoes. Wishing to spare myself this humiliation, I would change into my desert boots before leaving school every day.

So I was kind of a wimp about it, in retrospect. But hey, some of those dudes were pretty bad ass.

What makes me so excited about Opening Ceremony's take are the throwback shape of them (apparently based on a discontinued last from the 80s, so that makes sense), the fact they're made in England and the outstanding colour options, most notably the navy.

They totally take me back to those days, but without any of the anxiety.
